During this time of heightened awareness about the Covid-19 virus, it’s important that we are all sharing the most up-to-date and factual information. Here is the latest COVID-19 news from Bethany Village:
A message from Bethany Village Administrator, John Brinkman:
Dear Assisted Living Residents, Nursing Home, Family Members, Guardians and POAs,
I am reaching out to you today to provide a COVID-19 update. I know you are keenly aware that the entire world is dealing with the health crisis related to the highly contagious novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We are all working together to “flatten the curve” by following prescribed guidelines to protect those who are most vulnerable.
We have taken steps and will continue to take steps to reduce the spread of infection.
Knowing that our nursing home and assisted living residents are at the highest risk, we have implemented a number of measures designed to protect our residents and staff. We have shared several of these steps in past weeks: implementation of a no visitor policy, staff screening of temperatures and any symptoms of illness and enhanced cleaning procedures. In the last couple of weeks, all staff at Bethany are wearing masks, and the staff on the nursing unit are wearing the protective masks and are now screening for temperatures twice a day. We have implemented more enhanced isolation for any resident showing any symptom of illness and isolation areas for new admits to our rehab unit. We continue to comply with all new measures informed by guidance from the Ohio Dept of Health (ODH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Bethany has an infection preventionist on staff that regularly monitors infections and illnesses for residents. Additionally, in early March, we designated a nurse to track employee illnesses so that all employees were being tracked by a single person and not individual managers.
As of April 22, 2020, no residents or staff have tested positive for COVID-19. Our diligence to date has succeeded in keeping residents and staff healthy. Yet this is a highly contagious virus that could impact us despite our best efforts. We will stay vigilant.
What areas do our Staff work in?
Each day we have over 300 staff that provide care and services to our 350 residents in our assisted living (Crescent Crossing and Pavilion) and nursing home (Linden House and Courtyard Park) areas. These dedicated employees have continued to come to work despite their own challenges with daycare or anxiety about the virus, to care for our residents, your loved ones. They work in all areas: nursing, housekeeping, dining services, laundry, maintenance, social workers, life enrichment and other support services.
We will not be sharing details publicly about positive tests.
Please know and understand, if we need to contact a family member with updates about a specific resident, we will reach out to them directly. But, please note that out of respect to those affected and their families and, in accordance with privacy laws, we will not be sharing any personal details regarding Bethany staff or resident positive cases publicly by name but will submit information as required by the CDC, ODH and local Health Department. We have connected with the local health department several times to refine our planning and response process.

One last thought.
I can assure you that we are working diligently to ensure the safety, well-being of our residents, families and staff during this world health crisis, COVID-19. We continue daily monitoring of the information provided by the Ohio Department of Health and the local health department. Our Leadership Team communicates daily to review protocols and review any changes that might need to be made based on the daily briefings from the Governor. Additionally, we have, and continue to follow all CDC recommendations and guidelines and have very clear protocols in place for all our Bethany and Graceworks employees.
